3 Month Update

Brandon is 3 months old today.  Goodness, how the time flies by.  I feel like he was just born yesterday.  It is amazing how much he has already changed in this short time.  I have been blessed with such a happy baby who smiles ALL THE TIME!! Literally, he even smiles in his sleep.  It's adorable.

Stats:

He was at the doctor a few weeks ago and weighed in at 14lbs 10oz so I am sure he is over 15 lbs now, maybe even close to 16.  He was 24 inches long then as well but I think he is in the midst of a growth spurt because he was wearing a 9 month sleeper last night.  He is wearing 6 month size clothes now.

Sleep:

Well, earlier in the week he was waking a few times a night then for 2 consecutive nights he slept straight through the night and then last night he was up 2x again.  Not sure what to make of all this but hoping he gets back on his normal routine of sleeping through the night soon.  We do have a bedtime routine where he gets a bath, sometimes a story, and a bottle.  He is usually asleep by 8:30pm.  If he does wake up it is usually around 2:30am and then will usually sleep until about 6:30-7am.

Brandon isn't much of a napper and we don't really have a schedule for napping which is not a big deal for me now since he usually sleeps really well at night.

Eating:

We have never had a problem in the eating department.  The only time he gets fussy is when he is hungry.  He usually eats about every 2.5 to 3 hours about 4 oz a feeding.  At night, before bed he will usually eat about 6 to 8 oz. which I think helps him sleep longer.  He is averaging about 28-32 oz of formula a day.

Firsts:

Brandon is starting to roll over.  Back to Tummy and Tummy to Back.  He has mostly done this in his crib but has also started rolling over from his tummy to his back on the Boppy as well.  This isn't something that he has done often but it is only a matter of time before he figures out he can move around by doing this on the floor.

I also feel like he is getting close to sitting up on his own.  He can sit up for a few seconds now without any assistance so it's only a matter of time before he is able to do it for longer period of times.

Brandon has also figured out that he hands and fingers can fit in his mouth.  He is constantly trying to eat his hands.  He doesn't suck on them but if you watch he starts gnawing on his fingers.  I am starting to wonder if he is in the beginning stages of teething becuase he has started to drool non stop.

We have also had our first real tears.  Brandon was drifting off to sleep and Sampson (our wonderful dog) heard a noise outside and startled Brandon awake with his barking.  Brandon immediately started crying loudly and the tears just started streaming down his face.  It was the saddest thing to see.

  2. Thanks. I just checked out your blog and you little girl is precious. A friend of mine had a little girl with the same hair that stood straight up and we called it "Hurricane Hair" (the perfect reference since I live in Florida.) Look forward to following you as well on this amazing mommy journey.
