36 Week Update

How your baby's growing:

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of his first bowel movement.
At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.)

Stats:
How far along: 36 weeks
36 Week Bump Update
Sleep: This has actually been a really good week for sleeping.  I still get up at least 3 times a night to go to the bathroom but I am able to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night.
Maternity Clothes:  Definitely
Food Cravings:  Ice Cream.  The Publix Limited Edition Strawberry Shortcake ice cream is delish!!!
Food aversions: None really.  I actually ate some beef brisket last week so I think I may be over my red meat aversion, FINALLY.
Symptoms I have: Lots.  Braxton Hicks contractions if I start doing too much.  My feet will swell if I am on them for too long but, luckily they go back to normal after some rest.  My nipples have started leaking.  Not too bad but if you squeeze them then fluid starts coming out.  I am a little fascinated by that to be honest.
Doctor's Appointment:  Wednesday, March 7 at 3:30pm.  I had to do the 24 hour pee test so I will get the results back then.  Hopefully all is well and they won't have to put me on bed rest.
Movement:  He is a little wiggle worm.
Belly Button:  Nick says it's holding on for dear life but it's still in there.
What Else?:  Finally got my recliner in the room on Friday.  Absolutely LOVE it.  We went to hang up the shelves that I purchased from target but they didn't work out so well.  They are not very sturdy and the wall brackets broke on one as we were putting it up.  Needless to say these are not going to be used and I now will need to find a better set of shelves.

We will be ordering the last of the baby stuff that we need this week.  Everything left has to be ordered online but luckily there are only a few more items we need before baby arrives.
