Week 31 Update

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Well, the last 24 hours has been very eventful.  Nick and I had our 3rd birthing class last night.  We both felt like it was just a review of the last 2 classes except we added in a labor and delivery tour.  Everything else was more of the same; relaxation techniques, going over labor phases, etc.  Next week we will be doing more breathing techniques that can be used during contractions and the birthing process.  We will also be watching a video of a vaginal birth (oh, joy).

This morning I had a doctor's appointment to go over all of the testing from a few weeks ago.  Didn't really get any good news.  My 3 hour glucose test came back and I failed 2 out of the 4 tests which means I get the added bonus of checking my blood sugar 4 times a day.  My blood pressure is still a little high so I have to check that daily now and they have increased my medication from 2 times a day to 3.  Also, my antibodies test came back positive (which is odd becuase my first was negative) so I have to go back AGAIN and have another blood test done to see if it was just a false positive or if there really is something they need to keep an eye on.

I will say that Dr. Miser was very reassuring that I am doing everything right but said sometimes women's bodies don't always react well to being pregnant.  She did say that since I am so far along already that most of this isn't really going to effect this pregnancy but would have more of an effect on any future pregnancies.  Luckily, I don't plan on getting pregnant again and I feel all this information has just confirmed my thoughts that I am having only 1 child.

Stats:
How far along: 31 weeks
Sleep:  Last night was good; the previous nights not so much.  It all depends on how active Brandon is and probably how exhausted I am.
Maternity Clothes:  I am definitely past the point of no return.  All maternity expect for some pajama pants that I can still wear around the house.
Food Cravings:  Nothing really.  I have been eating more fruit and Greek yogurt lately but there hasn't been anything that I just have to eat.
Food aversions: Red meat mostly.
Symptoms I have: Had some back contractions over the weekend.  I think it was mostly becuase I over did it with rearranging the bedrooms and getting everything in the house situated.
Doctor's Appointment:  Next one is February 9.  Will have an ultrasound so should have some new pics of Brandon then.
Movement:  ALL THE TIME.  I don't think this child sleeps. It is too the point now that you can actually watch my belly and see it him move around.

Belly Button:  I haven't popped yet.  :)

What else?:  We are finally ordering all of the baby furniture tomorrow.  It should be here within a week or so.  I wanted to wait until we had all the painting and carpet done so I actually had somewhere for the baby stuff to go.
